Girl Tones is a sibling duo composed of sisters Kenzie Crowe on guitar and vocals, and Laila Crowe on drums. Formed in 2017, the band hails from Bowling Green, Kentucky, and has quickly gained attention for their unique blend of punk, new wave, and blues rock. Both Kenzie and Laila are classically trained, having learned piano and cello, respectively, before transitioning to punk rock. Their journey began with local performances and took a significant leap when they were discovered by Brad Shultz from Cage the Elephant, leading to them releasing singles like "Fade Away" and "Again" via Parallel Vision, his record label. Girl Tones have toured with Cage the Elephant and are known for their energetic and raw sound, which is heavily influenced by their musical inspirations, including the Riot Grrrl movement and bands like the White Stripes.
Their music often conveys themes of anger and empowerment, drawing from personal experiences and social observations. The duo's recent releases include "I Know You Know," "High and Dry," "Again," and "Fade Away," showcasing their ability to create emotive and impactful music. Despite their rapid success, Girl Tones take their career one day at a time, cherishing the opportunities they've been given and continuing to shape their musical journey.
