Superdrag

Superdrag is an American alternative rock band hailing from Knoxville, Tennessee, renowned for their catchy melodies melded with guitar-driven hooks that captured a significant following in the mid-90s. The group first garnered major attention with their 1996 release, "Regretfully Yours," which featured the hit single "Sucked Out," a staple of alternative rock radio that showcased the band's penchant for blending power pop sensibilities with the grungier aspects of rock.

Fronted by lead vocalist and guitarist John Davis, Superdrag's lineup has seen a few changes over the years with a core that often included bassist Tom Pappas, drummer Don Coffey Jr., and guitarist Brandon Fisher. Throughout their career, the band has explored and evolved their sound, traversing the spectrum from the raw, energetic approach of their earlier works, like "The Fabulous 8-Track Sound of Superdrag," to the more nuanced and sonically adventurous territories in albums such as "Head Trip In Every Key." Despite going through a break-up in 2003 following "Last Call for Vitriol," they regrouped to release "Industry Giants" in 2009, which marked a return to their roots and serves as a testament to the durable essence of their music. The band's fluidity and adaptability with the changing times while maintaining a firm grip on their distinctive sound is encapsulated in their varied discography, including fan favorites like "In the Valley of Dying Stars" and the retrospective "Changin' Tires on the Road to Ruin."
