Maestro Canibal is a hardcore/grindcore band from Lima, Peru, formed in 1998. Initially starting as a hardcore punk band, they have evolved over time to incorporate elements of death metal and extreme hardcore, describing their sound as "thirdworld deathgrind hardcore." The band's music often reflects themes of anti-elite control. Their discography includes notable releases like "Víctimas de Nuestra Propia Ignorancia," "Salvajismo de la Era Moderna," and "Suma de Derrotas de la Especie Humana." Maestro Canibal is currently working on a new album, tentatively titled "Miles de Lenguas Muertas," which promises a rich blend of grindcore, death metal, and other genres, reflecting their intense and energetic sound.
In recent years, the band has been involved in tribute projects, contributing to a tribute to Los Violadores with their version of "Cambio Violento," and they are also planning a tribute to Bad Brains. The current lineup includes Jorge Vivanco on vocals, with them actively seeking additional members for live performances.
