Hemkant Jha is a renowned Maithili singer from India, known for his extensive contributions to Maithili music. Born in 1949 in Shubhankarpur village, Darbhanga district, Bihar, he was the son of Suryakant Jha and Poonam Devi. Hemkant Jha is celebrated for singing over 6,000 songs, with his music being released by prominent labels like T-Series, Tips, HMV, and Neelam. Some of his notable works include "Sanesh," "Himrekha," "Bhauji," "Chal Mithila Me Chal," and "Mama Yo Kani Khaini Diya." He played a significant role in popularizing Maithili music, making it accessible to a broader audience. Unfortunately, Hemkant Jha passed away due to a brain hemorrhage in Darbhanga.
