Toshiyuki Shimada is a renowned Japanese-born American orchestral conductor. He is currently the Music Director and Conductor of several orchestras, including the Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra of the Southern Finger Lakes, and the New Britain Symphony Orchestra. Previously, he held notable positions such as Music Director of the Yale Symphony Orchestra at Yale University from 2005 to 2019, and Music Director of the Portland Symphony Orchestra in Maine from 1986 to 2006. He was also Associate Conductor of the Houston Symphony Orchestra for six years and has served as Principal Conductor of the Vienna Modern Masters record label since 1998.
