Salvador Escamilla

He was a prominent figure in Catalan media, working as a presenter on radio and television, as well as a singer and theater actor. Escamilla played a pivotal role in promoting the Nova Cançó movement, a cultural phenomenon that revitalized Catalan music during the 1960s. His radio program *Radioscope* on Ràdio Barcelona provided a platform for emerging artists, including Joan Manuel Serrat, helping them secure record deals and gain recognition. Escamilla's own musical contributions include numerous recordings, such as *Les Cançons de Mary Poppins* and *My Fair Lady*, showcasing his versatility in interpreting musical theater classics. He was awarded the Creu de Sant Jordi in 1994 for his contributions to Catalan culture.

Throughout his career, Escamilla was involved in various radio stations and projects, including the creation of Radiotelevisió Cardedeu in 1980. His legacy extends beyond his own performances, as he facilitated the growth of Catalan music and culture through his work. In 2002, he was honored at the Palau de la Música Catalana for his professional achievements, reflecting his enduring impact on the Catalan music scene.
