Jacob Bogaart

Jacob Bogaart is a distinguished Dutch pianist and conductor known for his deep commitment to both solo and chamber music. He began his advanced studies at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg, focusing on piano and orchestral conducting. After completing his solo exams, he returned to the Netherlands for military service and then studied extensively with Jan Wijn. His scholarship took him to Rome to study with Carlo Zecchi at the Accademia di Santa Cecilia, followed by further tutelage under Magda Tagliaferro in Paris, who appointed him her assistant. He also benefited from coaching by Raphael de Silva and Claudio Arrau. Bogaart gained recognition as a finalist in numerous international competitions and has performed as a soloist in major European cities, the USA, Russia, and various international music festivals.

Throughout his career, Bogaart has collaborated with renowned conductors such as Neumann, Comissiona, Benzi, and Ernest Bour, with whom he recorded all Beethoven Piano Concertos. He is also passionate about chamber music, working with ensembles like the Alban Berg, Kodaly, and Orpheus quartets. His collaboration with mezzo-soprano Elisabeth von Magnus has resulted in a repertoire of over three hundred lieder, performed extensively across Europe, the USA, and the Middle East. Moreover, Bogaart has championed Dutch keyboard music, recording a substantial collection of works from over fifty composers spanning from Sweelinck to contemporary composers, showcasing his dedication to preserving and promoting the Netherlands' musical heritage.
