Mikel Laboa

Mikel Laboa was a Basque singer-songwriter and poet who played a significant role in the Basque folk revival of the 1960s and 1970s. His music often addressed themes of Basque culture, history, and politics, and he became a symbol of Basque identity and resistance during the Francoist dictatorship. Laboa's songs are known for their poetic lyrics, haunting melodies, and his distinctive voice. He released numerous albums throughout his career, including "Bat Hiru" (1974), "Lekeitioak" (1980), and "Xoriek 17" (1987). Laboa's music continues to be celebrated and performed in the Basque Country and beyond.
