Igor Zakus

Igor Zakus is a renowned Ukrainian bass guitarist, composer, bandleader, and teacher. Born on March 6, 1966, in Chervonohrad, Ukraine, he graduated from the Lviv Music College and Lviv Music Academy with a degree in oboe, though he is best known for his work on the bass guitar. Zakus's musical style spans jazz, funk, fusion, and rock. He co-founded the Jazz Kolo project in 2007, which aims to support and develop Ukrainian jazz by bringing together top musicians from Ukraine and abroad. His discography includes albums like "Dedications," "Zakus Was Here," and "Kolomyiky," showcasing his unique style and contributions to Ukrainian jazz.

Zakus has collaborated with numerous notable artists and has been involved in various international jazz projects. His work with Jazz Kolo has led to the creation of projects like "Spivanky," which reimagines traditional Ukrainian folk songs with modern jazz elements.
