Matthew Owens

Matthew Owens is a highly acclaimed conductor, organist, and composer, renowned for his contributions to classical music. Born in Manchester, England, he has held prestigious positions such as Director of Music at Belfast Cathedral and previously at Wells Cathedral and St Mary’s Episcopal Cathedral in Edinburgh. Owens is also the founder of the Ulster Consort, a professional vocal and instrumental ensemble based in Northern Ireland. He has conducted numerous world premieres, including works by prominent composers like Sir James MacMillan and Jools Holland. His discography includes over thirty recordings with major labels, now exclusively with Resonus Classics. Owens's passion for music extends to vinyl, where he appreciates the warmth and authenticity of analog sound.

As an organist, Matthew Owens has performed internationally in countries such as Australia, France, Ireland, New Zealand, Spain, Switzerland, the USA, and throughout the UK. His educational background includes Chetham's School of Music, The Queen's College, Oxford, the Royal Northern College of Music, and the Amsterdam Conservatorium.
