DJ TASAKA is a renowned Japanese DJ and musician born in 1974 in Tokyo. He began his journey into music during his middle school years, discovering hip-hop and mastering the turntables and mixer. By the age of 18, he was active as a hip-hop club DJ. However, his exposure to techno, especially during a techno party in Tokyo in the mid-1990s, profoundly shifted his musical direction from hip-hop toward electronic and techno music. His career took a significant leap when he connected with legendary DJ and producer Takkyu Ishino, leading to a regular DJ spot at Ishino's club event "LOOPA" starting in 1997. TASAKA also collaborated with the influential electronic group Denki Groove, contributing to their 2000 album "VOXXX" and accompanying their live tour. Beyond DJing, he has released several mix CDs and original albums, worked on remixes, and expanded his creative ventures into producing and collaborations, including his work with the unit Disco Twins and the collaboration project Disco K2 Twins alongside notable artists like Koji Kikkawa.
Known for his eclectic style blending various dance music genres with hip-hop roots, DJ TASAKA has made a lasting impact on Japan's electronic music scene. He’s versatile in mixing and producing, with a reputation for keeping his sets funky and energetic, often incorporating elements from different musical styles.
