Green Carnation

Green Carnation is a Norwegian progressive metal band that has traversed various genres throughout its career, including doom metal, progressive rock, and even acoustic folk elements. Originally founded in 1990 by Terje Vik Schei (also known as Tchort), the band went through an early disbandment in 1991 before reuniting in 1998. Tchort's experience with other notable metal acts such as Emperor and Carpathian Forest has helped to shape the diverse sound of Green Carnation, allowing the band to deftly move between atmospheric heaviness and melodic introspection.

With a discography that includes heavyweight conceptual albums like "Light of Day, Day of Darkness," which consists of a single 60-minute track, Green Carnation has cemented their reputation for ambitious songwriting and a refusal to be confined by genre boundaries. Noteworthy among their recent releases is "Leaves of Yesteryear" (2020), a long-awaited comeback album that revisits the band's roots while pushing forward into new sonic territories. Additionally, "The Acoustic Verses" showcases their versatility, stripping back the layers to present a more intimate and stripped-down sound. The band's ability to metamorphose and their continuous exploration of musical landscapes have garnered them a dedicated following in the progressive metal community.
