The Swingle Singers

The Swingle Singers, often simply known as 'Swingles', are an internationally acclaimed a cappella ensemble known for their unique vocal style that fuses classical music with jazz harmonies. Formed in 1962 by American-born Ward Swingle in Paris, France, the group originally consisted of eight voices: four male and four female. The ensemble quickly gained fame for their pioneering sound, characterized by scat singing and the use of voice to imitate musical instruments. They initially gained recognition with their innovative interpretation of Johann Sebastian Bach's music, which was featured in their debut album, "Jazz Sebastian Bach."

Over the years, The Swingle Singers' line-up has evolved, featuring a rotating roster of talented vocalists that have sustained the group's high quality and innovative approach to a cappella music. The ensemble's adaptability and versatility are demonstrated through a diverse discography that spans classical, baroque, contemporary, and popular music genres. Their recent releases, such as "A Cappella Christmas Favourites" and "Weather to Fly," showcase their ability to blend sophisticated vocal techniques with contemporary sounds, making them enduringly popular with audiences worldwide. Recognition of their distinctive style and contributions to music includes multiple Grammy Awards and a broad fan base across many countries. Their tribute to the Beatles with "Ticket To Ride" or their collection "Anthology" are testaments to their wide-ranging musical palette and their ongoing legacy in the world of vocal ensemble music.
