The Akhtamar Quartet is a Brussels-based string quartet founded in 2014 by Franco-Belgian musicians. Their name pays homage to the Armenian legend of Akhtamar and the Armenian Miniatures by Komitas and Arranger Serge Aslamazyan, whose work they have passionately included in their repertoire from the start. Known for their vibrant sound and emotional expressiveness, they perform a diverse repertoire that bridges classical masterpieces by composers like Debussy and Dvořák with Armenian traditional and contemporary music, including works by Eugénie Alécian and Judith Adler de Oliveira.
The quartet has gained recognition through several prestigious awards, such as the second prize at the Musiq’3 festival and third prize at the International Johannes Brahms Competition. They have performed extensively across Europe and beyond, integrating social projects that bring classical music to broader audiences, including schools and hospitals, through initiatives like Music 4 Armenia and Music 4 Lebanon.
