Sourakata Koité

Sourakata Koité is a renowned kora master from Dakar, Senegal. Born into a family of griots, the traditional West African caste of musician-storyteller-historians, Sourakata began playing music from a very young age. He learned to play both the kora and balafon as a child. After moving to Paris in the late 1970s, he collaborated with various musicians, including Manu Dibango and Touré Kounda, among others. His music reflects his rich cultural heritage and his ability to blend traditional African sounds with contemporary influences.
