Yondo Sister

Denise Kusala Yondo, known professionally as Yondo Sister, is a celebrated Congolese musician born on April 23, 1958, in Bukavu, Zaire (now the Democratic Republic of Congo). She is widely recognized as the "queen of soukous," a genre that she has dominated along with kwassa kwassa music. Yondo Sister began her musical career with Tabu Ley Rochereau's band, L'Afrisa International, alongside her sister Chantal Yondo. Her musical journey initially started with ambitions to become a dancer, but thanks to Tabu Ley, she transitioned into a singer. She later pursued a successful solo career, releasing albums like "Bazo" and "Dernière Minute." Today, Yondo Sister resides in Paris and continues to inspire with her rich cultural musical legacy.
