James Johnston
James Johnston is a British multi-instrumentalist, composer, and genre-defying creative force best known as the frontman of the experimental rock band Gallon Drunk. Hailing from London, he’s spent decades blending garage rock, blues, cabaret, and avant-garde noise into a uniquely theatrical sound. His recent work, like the gritty *Everybody’s Sunset* and haunting *Stormy Sea*, leans into his signature brooding atmospherics, while collaborations like *Fiends with a Face* (with experimentalist Philippe Petit) and *I’d Give You Anything* (featuring Gemma Ray) showcase his flair for boundary-pushing partnerships. Johnston also dips into classical realms, as heard in his contribution to *Vaughan Williams: Sir John in Love*, proving he’s as comfortable with orchestral arrangements as he is with raw, distorted guitars.
