Gerry Boulet

Gerry Boulet was a prominent figure in the Quebec rock music scene, best known for his raspy, powerful voice and impassioned performances. Born in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec, Canada on March 1, 1946, Boulet began his music career in the 1960s but soared to fame as the lead singer of the Quebec rock band Offenbach. With a career that spanned two decades, his distinctive blend of blues, rock, and québécois chanson helped define the sound of francophone rock in Canada.

After leaving Offenbach in the early '80s, he embarked on a successful solo career marked by his emotive songwriting and raw vocal style. His solo work resonated deeply with fans, especially in his home province. Among his most notable albums were "Presque 40 ans de blues" and "Rendez-vous doux", the latter bearing the poignant hit of the same name which reflected his introspective lyricism. Despite passing away at the young age of 44 on July 18, 1990, following a battle with cancer, Boulet's legacy endures through posthumous releases such as "Gerry Boulet...En rappel" and "Jézabel" which cater to the enduring appetite for his music among fans. His influence can still be felt in the Quebec music scene, and his work continues to inspire both listeners and fellow musicians alike.
