Heathen Apostles

The Heathen Apostles are a genre-defying band that fuses the dark edge of Gothic music with the raw, gritty twang of Western Americana. Hailing from Los Angeles, the group was formed by Mather Louth (former vocalist of Radio Noir) and Chopper Franklin (ex-Cramps, Mau Maus) in 2013. Together, they’ve crafted a distinctive sound often described as “Gothic Western” or “dark roots,” blending elements of Gothic rock, outlaw country, and bluegrass with a cinematic, haunting flair.

Known for their dramatic visuals and moody, storytelling lyrics, Heathen Apostles have released several albums and EPs, including the "Bloodgrass" series and "Dust to Dust." Their work often explores themes of death, spirituality, and Americana folklore. Beyond the studio, their striking live performances and collaborations—such as the animated project The Goodbye Family, based on the work of author Lorin Morgan-Richards—have helped cement their place as unique voices in both the Gothic and Western revival scenes.
