Pappo

Norberto Aníbal Napolitano, known popularly as Pappo, is a towering figure in the history of Argentine rock and blues. Born on March 10, 1950, in La Paternal, Buenos Aires, Pappo found his passion for music at a young age and rapidly became a pivotal force in the Argentine rock scene. He is often lauded as one of the first musicians to sing blues in Spanish, effectively intertwining the traditional American blues sound with the heart and soul of Latin American music.

Throughout his illustrious career, which spanned several decades until his untimely death in 2005, Pappo formed and played in a number of influential bands—including the legendary blues rock group Pappo's Blues—and later, Riff, one of the most prominent hard rock bands of the '80s in Argentina. He was a virtuoso guitarist, delivering raw and electrifying performances that cemented his legacy as "El Carpo," a nickname endearing him to his legion of passionate fans. Pappo's discography is rich with gritty and authentic blues tunes, such as the fan-favorite "El Tren de las 16" and "Sucio y Desprolijo." His posthumous releases, like "Vivo Cosquín Rock" and "Buscando un Amor," have continued to celebrate his timeless contribution to music and keep his memory alive in the hearts of new and old listeners alike. Pappo's influence on rock and blues in Argentina and Latin America is undeniably profound, setting the bar for aspiring guitarists and music aficionados across generations.
