Jello Biafra is a punk rock icon best known as the lead singer and primary lyricist for the legendary San Francisco band Dead Kennedys, one of the most influential American hardcore punk bands of the late 1970s and early '80s. His biting political commentary, delivered through snarling vocals and satirical lyrics, made him a defining voice in punk's early political consciousness. Beyond his work with the Dead Kennedys, Biafra has remained active as a spoken-word artist, activist, and the founder of the independent label Alternative Tentacles.
In recent years, he’s been fronting Jello Biafra and the Guantanamo School of Medicine, a band that continues his tradition of sharp-edged political punk rock, with releases like Tea Party Revenge Porn and White People and the Damage Done. Whether through music or his spoken-word performances, Biafra has never been shy about challenging authority, confronting hypocrisy, or stirring the pot—making him a lifelong agitator in the best punk tradition.
