The Death Set is a high-energy punk rock and electronic band originally formed in Sydney, Australia, before relocating to the United States. Known for their chaotic live shows and genre-blending sound—mixing punk rock, noise, hip-hop, and electronic elements—the band was founded by Johnny Siera and Beau Velasco in the early 2000s. They gained early attention for their DIY ethos and frenetic energy, which landed them a deal with Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak Records.
Following Velasco’s tragic death in 2009, the band pressed forward with Siera at the helm, releasing the critically acclaimed album Michel Poiccard in 2011, produced by XXXChange and featuring collaborations with Diplo and Spank Rock. Their music has continued to evolve with releases like How to Tune a Parrot and Set for Death, solidifying their reputation for crafting short, punchy, and unpredictable tracks that refuse to be neatly categorized. The Death Set remains a standout force in the underground punk and electronic scenes.
