Lung is the fierce cello-and-drums duo from Cincinnati, Ohio, bringing operatic intensity to DIY punk energy. Composed of classically trained cellist/vocalist Kate Wakefield and drummer Daisy Caplan (formerly of Foxy Shazam), their sound melds haunting string arrangements with raw garage rock grit. Since forming in 2016, they've become known for cathartic performances tackling themes of empowerment and vulnerability through Wakefield's soaring vocals and distorted cello textures. Recent releases like 2023's snarling "Come Clean Right Now" and the apocalyptic folk-punk anthem "Bottom of the Barrel" showcase their evolution toward more experimental territory while maintaining their signature visceral punch. Their 2021 "Lung/Skrt Split" collaboration and tracks like "All The King's Horses" highlight their strong DIY ethos and connection to the underground rock community.
