Starmarket

**Starmarket** was a Swedish alternative rock/post-hardcore band that emerged from Gothenburg in the mid-’90s, known for their raw, energetic sound and emotionally charged lyrics. Formed in 1995, the band initially included members linked to Sweden’s underground punk scene, blending frenetic guitar work with introspective themes. They gained traction with their debut album *Four Hours Light* (1996) and a split EP with fellow Swedes The Hives (*Starmarket vs. The Hives*, 1998), showcasing their knack for chaotic melodies and earnest delivery. After a hiatus in the early 2000s, Starmarket reunited in the 2010s, releasing later works like *Abandon Time* (2012) and *Radio Silence/Dead of Night* (2019), which retained their signature urgency while leaning into darker, more atmospheric textures. Though they never broke into mainstream circles, their cult following in Scandinavia and Europe celebrates their passionate live shows and unpolished authenticity.
