Gridlink

Gridlink was an influential American grindcore band known for their technical proficiency and intense, emotionally charged music. The band was formed in 2004, breaking onto the scene with their distinct blend of extreme metal fused with elements of punk, noise, and thrash. Their approach to grindcore was characterized by complex riffs, rapid-fire drumming, and a sense of urgency that bled through their recordings. Despite their brief existence, spanning just under a decade, they made a significant impact on the metal subgenre.

Gridlink's music was led by the venomous vocal work of Jon Chang, previously from Discordance Axis. In addition to Chang, the band consisted of a lineup of seasoned musicians, including guitarist Takafumi Matsubara, whose riffs and technical prowess provided the backbone for the group's aural assault. Throughout their career, they released a series of blistering albums, culminating in their final opus "Longhena" in 2014. The album was celebrated for its seamless amalgamation of brutality and melody, marking a high point for the band's creativity and complex songwriting. The release of "Longhena," along with their other works such as "Coronet Juniper" and "Silk Ash Cascade," cemented Gridlink’s legacy as one of the most devastating and sophisticated acts in the history of grindcore.
