Millen Hailu is an Ethiopian jazz saxophonist, keyboardist, and composer. He is known for his unique blend of traditional Ethiopian music with jazz, funk, and soul. Hailu was born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, in 1955. He began playing the saxophone at a young age and was soon performing with local bands. In the 1970s, he joined the Walias Band, one of the most popular bands in Ethiopia. After the Walias Band disbanded, Hailu moved to the United States, where he continued to perform and record. He has released several albums, including "Shemonmuan" (1999), "Hailu Mergia & His Classical Instrument" (2006), and "Yene Mircha" (2013).
