Los Mirlos

Los Mirlos are a legendary group hailing from Peru, widely regarded as one of the pioneering ensembles of the Amazonian cumbia, also known as cumbia amazónica or chicha. Founded in the early 1970s by the brothers Jorge and Carlos Rodríguez Grández, the band was named after the Spanish word for blackbirds, a nod to the grace and beauty of their music. Their sound, characterized by an infectious blend of traditional Peruvian cumbia rhythms with elements of psychedelic rock and indigenous Amazonian music, quickly made them icons in their home country and highly influential within the Latin American music scene.

With a career spanning multiple decades, Los Mirlos have turned into musical ambassadors of the Peruvian Amazon, enchanting audiences with their hypnotic grooves and electric performances. Known for hits such as "La Danza de Los Mirlos" and "Sonido Amazonico," they have successfully brought the unique flavors of Peruvian cumbia to the international stage. Their recent releases, including tracks like "Te Juro (Remix)" and "Enamorado tuyo (Versión 2023)," show that Los Mirlos continue to innovate and captivate, remaining relevant to both new and long-time fans of the genre. Their music is not just a testament to the rich cultural tapestry of the Amazon but also resonates with themes of love, joy, and the enduring spirit of Peru.
