Nicolas Membriani

Nicolás Membriani is an Argentine payador, born on January 29, 1989, in Rojas, Buenos Aires Province. A payador is a type of improvising poet and singer in Argentine and Uruguayan traditions. Membriani began improvising at a young age, around 13 or 14, and quickly rose to prominence in the payador community. He made his debut at the Festival Nacional de Doma y Folklore in Jesús María in 2005, and by the age of 21, he had achieved his goal of becoming the official payador for this major gaucho festival.

Membriani's performances often involve improvising verses about riders and horses during rodeo events, adding a poetic flourish to these traditional competitions. His style incorporates the décima verse form, typically accompanied by guitar, and he employs musical forms such as cifra, milonga, and huella. Membriani has released several albums, including "Dando el Frente" in 2008 and a self-titled album in 2011.
