The Illyria Consort is a musical project founded by Baroque violinist Bojan Čičić with the specific mission to uncover and perform rare Baroque works from the 17th and 18th centuries associated with the Venetian Republic and the Habsburg Empire. The group specializes in exploring neglected compositions, often known only from manuscripts, and brings them to life with historically informed performances. Over the years, they have been invited to play at prestigious early music festivals across Europe, including in Croatia, Belgium, France, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom.
The Illyria Consort has earned notable critical acclaim for their recordings, such as the debut album featuring Giovanni Stefano Carbonelli's *Sonate da camera Nos. 1-6*, which was named one of Presto Classical’s Recordings of the Year in 2017. They continued to release significant projects including the world premiere recordings of works by Giovanni Giornovich, virtuoso violin concertos by composers like Vivaldi, Tartini, and Locatelli, and music inspired by the Croatian coast’s Baroque heritage. Their 2021 album *Adriatic Voyage*, a collaboration with the Marian Consort, also won a Presto Recording of the Year Award. The ensemble’s work is marked by its dedication to reviving musical gems of the Baroque era with expertise and passionate musicianship.
