Ruth is a French new wave band formed in the early 1980s by Thierry Müller. The group released their only album, "Polaroïd/Roman/Photo", in 1985. Initially selling just 50 copies, the album remained obscure until the early 2000s when tracks began appearing on bootlegs and compilations. The title track "Polaroïd/Roman/Photo" has since become a cult synthpop classic.
Thierry Müller, a photographer and graphic artist from Paris, was the creative force behind Ruth. He drew inspiration from artists like Brian Eno, Stockhausen, Pere Ubu, Neu, Velvet Underground, and Kraftwerk. The band's lineup was collaborative and fluid, blending brass instruments with early drum machines and experimental sounds.
