Narcosis is a cult Peruvian rock band hailing from Lima, active during a pivotal era for underground music in Peru. Formed in 1984, they were among the first groups to emerge from Lima’s explosive underground punk and rock scene, quickly gaining recognition for their raw, rebellious sound that blended punk and anarcopunk with the unique flavor of Peruvian rock. The original lineup included Luis "Wicho" García, Jorge "Pelo parao" Madueño, and Fernando "Cachorro" Vial, who passed away in 2020.
Despite their short initial run—just over a year—Narcosis made a lasting impact with their self-produced cassette releases, especially their debut “Primera Dosis” (1985), which became legendary for its DIY spirit and influence on later generations of rock musicians. Their music, often distributed outside mainstream channels, tackled themes like depression, anarchism, social activism, and the state of the world. Though they disbanded in 1986, Narcosis’ legacy endured, and they briefly returned in 2014, continuing to resonate with fans for their uncompromising attitude and underground ethos.
