Hradistan

Hradišťan, under the leadership of Jiří Pavlica, is a prominent Czech folk music ensemble with deep roots in the musical heritage of Moravia, one of the historical regions of the Czech Republic. Established in 1950, Hradišťan has evolved from a regional folk ensemble into a world-renowned group, integrated with elements of modern music, theatre, poetry and dance. Their craft is a unique interpretation of traditional Moravian folk music, imbued with a contemporary sensibility and an experimental approach, harmoniously blending old melodies with innovative musical ideas.

Jiří Pavlica, a distinguished violinist, composer and the ensembles artistic director since the 1980s, has been a driving force in the group’s continuous reinvention and adaptation. With a rich discography that includes studio albums, live performances, and collaborative projects, Hradišťan has captured the cultural essence of Moravia, bringing it to the international stage. Notable albums like "Vteřiny křehké" (Fragile Seconds) and "Live" exhibit the ensemble's versatility and the seamless integration of multiple genres. Through collaborative performances, such as the ones with Hana and Petr Ulrychovi, Hradišťan continues to show their unwavering commitment to exploring the nexus of traditional and contemporary music.
