Los Cadetes de Linares are one of the most eminent norteño bands hailing from Linares, Nuevo León, Mexico. The group was founded in 1960 by Homero Guerrero and Lupe Tijerina. The band's name pays homage to their hometown, and they became widely recognized for their traditional conjunto and norteño music, marked by the distinctive sound of the accordion and bajo sexto. Often referred to as "Los Idolos del Pueblo" (The People's Idols), Los Cadetes de Linares have been instrumental in defining the sounds and storytelling of regional Mexican music, with their ballads often recounting tales of life, love, and the experiences of the working class.
Tragically, Homero Guerrero passed away in 1982, but Lupe Tijerina decided to keep the group's legacy alive by continuing to perform and record music under the Cadetes name. With a rotating lineup around Tijerina until his death in 2016, the band remained a staple in the genre, releasing over thirty albums. Some of their recent works include "12 Kilates Puros Boleros" and "15 Rancheras De Oro En La Plaza México," which showcase their proficiency in weaving poignant stories with traditional Mexican sounds. "Homenaje A Homero" and its 25th-anniversary counterpart pay tribute to their late founding member, ensuring his memory endures through the music they shared. Los Cadetes de Linares's enduring presence and influence in the Mexican music scene have cemented their place in the hearts of fans and in the annals of regional music history.
