The Langhorns are a Swedish instrumental surf rock band, known for infusing the classic surf sound with elements of exotica and spaghetti western themes. Formed in Lund in 1995, the band's music is characterized by reverb-drenched guitars, dynamic rhythms, and a seamless blend of vintage and modern surf influences. Comprising members Michael Sellers (guitar), Martin Berglund (bass), and Claes Almroth (drums), the trio quickly carved out a niche within the surf rock revival scene that emerged during the 1990s.
The self-titled debut album "Langhorns," released in 1998, laid a solid foundation for the group's exotic surf-rock stylings. They continued to refine their sound with subsequent releases like "Club Gabardino" in 1999, which showcased their penchant for crafting atmospheric soundscapes apt for any beach party or contemplative sunset. "Mission Exotica" in 2000 further emphasized their exploratory nature, as they ventured into more intricate and diverse musical territory, infusing their surf repertoire with mysterious and worldly flair. "Surfin' Home For Christmas," released later, illustrates the band's fun and eclectic approach to genre blending, spinning classic holiday tunes through their distinct surf-rock lens. While not as prolific in recent years, Langhorns continue to enjoy a dedicated following among surf rock aficionados and those with an appetite for the nostalgic sounds of the sixties, elegantly modernized by this Swedish trio.
