Soumyojit Das

Soumyojit Das is a vocalist and part of the renowned Indian musical duo Sourendro-Soumyojit. Born in Barrackpore, West Bengal, he began his music training at a young age and later studied at St. Xavier's College in Kolkata. Soumyojit has been trained under the legendary Pandit Ajoy Chakraborty since 1996, which has significantly influenced his musical style. He is known for his versatility, experimenting with genres ranging from classical, semi-classical, ghazals, thumri, to contemporary and playback songs. The duo has performed globally, including prestigious venues like the Rudolfstadt festival and the British Museum, and has collaborated with numerous legendary musicians.

Soumyojit and his partner Sourendra Mullick have curated several notable projects, including "Jaya Hey," a rendition of the Indian national anthem featuring many prominent artists. Their work often blends traditional Indian music with contemporary elements, creating a unique soundscape. Soumyojit has also been inspired by iconic figures like Lata Mangeshkar, whose music played a significant role in his early life and career aspirations. The duo's music transcends genres and languages, reflecting their identity as world citizens who aim to create music that resonates universally.
