Diego Fernández Magdaleno is a celebrated Spanish pianist and professor, born in 1971 in Medina de Rioseco, Valladolid. He is renowned for his deep commitment to contemporary Spanish music, having premiered over 300 works by more than seventy Spanish composers and played a crucial role in reviving forgotten Spanish piano repertoire. His interpretative skills have earned high praise from composers like Pedro Aizpurua, who credited him with revealing subtle nuances in their works that even they had not noticed. Beyond performing, Fernández Magdaleno has also been an influential educator, serving as a professor and former director at the Conservatory of Music in Valladolid. He was awarded the prestigious National Music Prize in 2010 and currently presides over the jury of the International Frechilla-Zuloaga Piano Prize.
