Amen Dunes

Amen Dunes is the musical project of New York-based singer-songwriter and musician Damon McMahon, an artist whose work melds the rawness of indie rock with psychedelic folk elements. Amen Dunes began taking shape in 2006 after McMahon ended his previous band, Inouk, and embarked on a personal musical journey that has been marked by introspective lyricism and an evolving sound. McMahon often explores themes of identity, personal transformation, and the struggle for self-realization within his work, drawing listeners into a deeply personal artistic universe.

Since its inception, Amen Dunes has released a number of critically acclaimed albums that chart the progression of McMahon's artistry. "Murder Dull Mind" (2009) and "Through Donkey Jaw" (2011) helped establish a foundation for the project's characteristic introspective and haunting sound. With the release of "Love" (2014), Amen Dunes gained broader recognition as McMahon's songwriting honed in on a more structured form, without sacrificing the ethereal and searching quality of earlier work. "Freedom" (2018), arguably the project's most celebrated work to date, demonstrated a significant evolution, showcasing McMahon's reflective storytelling against the backdrop of more polished and expansive arrangements. Amen Dunes continues to see McMahon experimenting with his distinctive blend of folk and psychedelia while engaging in collaborative efforts, as evidenced by tracks like the Westerman-featured remix of "L.A.," keeping fans intrigued with each new evolution of Amen Dunes’ sound.
