**Scott Wendholt** is an articulate, passionate, and lyrical American jazz trumpeter born on July 21, 1965, in Denver, Colorado, where he grew up in the Mile High City, picking up the trumpet in third grade and diving into improvisation early on. A graduate of Indiana University's renowned music program, he later headed to Cincinnati and built a killer career, shining as a solo artist and lead trumpeter with the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra while racking up credits with heavy hitters like the Carnegie Hall Big Band (led by Jon Faddis), Maria Schneider's Big Band, Bob Mintzer Big Band, and Buddy Rich Big Band.
His discography pops with straight-ahead jazz and post-bop gems like *Hour of the Pearl* (2005), *Jam Session Vol. 5* (2003), *What Goes Unsaid*, *Beyond Thursday*, and the Scott Wendholt - Adam Kolker Quartet's *Andthem* (2014), plus Criss Cross releases such as *The Scheme of Things* and *Through the Shadows*—all showcasing his energetic, spirited style. Today, he's also a faculty member at the Manhattan School of Music, passing on his blues mastery and trumpet wisdom.
