DJ Oil, whose real name is Lionel Corsini, is a veteran of the underground music scene in Marseille, France. He released his well-received solo debut album in 2012 titled "Black Notes" on the French label Discograph. However, he's perhaps better known as one part of The Troublemakers, a group that had the unique distinction of being signed to both the legendary '90s house label Guidance and the iconic jazz label Blue Note.
Corsini's music spans a wide range, from country blues to township jive, with occasional nods to house music. He uses modern technology to recreate the virtual orchestra in his head, resulting in an eclectic and distinctive sound. After some creative constraints during his time with Blue Note, Corsini's recent work shows his creative juices flowing freely, potentially expanding his audience beyond the French underground scene.
