Atilla Aldemir

Atilla Aldemir is a Turkish violinist and violist born in Istanbul in 1975. He began his musical education at the State Conservatory of Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, completing his studies in 1994. Aldemir then moved to Germany, where he furthered his training with Prof. Lukas David at the Detmold University of Music and later with Prof. Mintcho Mintchev at the Folkwang University in Essen. He completed his concert diploma with distinction in 2002. Aldemir has received numerous awards, including the GWK Young Artist Award in 1998, first prize at the Istanbul Violin Competition in 2000, and the Folkwang Prize in 2002. He has performed as a soloist with various orchestras, including the Camerata Salzburg and the MDR-Sinfonieorchester Leipzig, with whom he has been the principal violist since April 2017.

Aldemir's discography includes albums such as "The Contemporary Voice of Turkish Music" and "Passion." His performances have taken him to numerous European countries, the USA, Israel, and Egypt, with appearances in renowned concert halls like the Berliner Philharmonie and the Wiener Konzerthaus. He plays a viola by Peregrino di Zanetto and a violin by Jean Baptiste Vuillaume. Aldemir's chamber music partners include notable artists like Fazıl Say and Hüseyin Sermet. His recent releases include arrangements of Bach's sonatas and partitas for viola, showcasing his versatility as a musician.
