Chimp Spanner

Chimp Spanner, the creation of UK-based musician and producer Paul Ortiz, is an instrumental progressive metal solo project that has been carving out a unique niche within the genre since its inception. Ortiz, a multi-instrumentalist and composer, has garnered critical acclaim for his ability to blend complex guitar work, atmospheric synthesizers, and intricate drum programming, resulting in a sound that is both technically proficient and emotionally resonant. Chimp Spanner's music often draws from a range of influences, including ambient, electronic music, and djent, a subgenre of progressive metal.

Ortiz's work as Chimp Spanner gained significant attention with the release of the album "At the Dream's Edge" in 2009, which showcased his capacity to craft cinematic soundscapes alongside heavy riffs and melodic solos. Following this, the EP "All Roads Lead Here" further solidified Chimp Spanner's position in the progressive metal community, introducing tracks like "Mӧbius Pt I" which continued to push the boundaries of instrumental music. Over the years, Chimp Spanner has continued to release a variety of singles and EPs, such as "Dark Age of Technology" and "The Mirror," both of which feature the project's characteristic blend of melody, complexity, and futuristic themes. With each new release, including tracks like "Until The End" and "Machine God," Chimp Spanner reasserts its reputation for crafting evocative and technically mesmerizing musical journeys.
