Anti Cimex

Anti Cimex was a seminal Swedish hardcore punk band, often associated with the punk subgenre known as crust. Founded in Gothenburg in 1981, the band was pivotal in the development of the Swedish punk scene and exerted influence on the international punk and hardcore movements with their raw and direct sound. Originally composed of vocalist Nils "Nillen" Andersson, guitarist Jonsson, bassist Joakim "Joker" Pettersson, and drummer Charlie Claesson, the lineup would fluctuate over the years, but their ethos and sound remained fiercely dedicated to the hardcore punk roots.

The band's discography reflects the gritty, unapologetic nature of their music. Starting with their raw debut EP "Anarkist Attack" in 1982, they quickly made a name for themselves with releases like "Raped Ass" and "Victims Of A Bombraid". The latter half of the 1980s saw the band refining their sound and message with powerful releases like "Absolut Country of Sweden" (1990) and "Scandinavian Jawbreaker" (1993), illustrating their growth without diluting the fundamental aggression and social criticism that were hallmarks of their early work. The self-titled "Anti Cimex" album marked another significant entry in their catalog, reaffirming their status as icons of the punk genre. The band eventually disbanded in 1993, leaving behind a legacy built on a foundation of blistering riffs and an indomitable rebel spirit, which continues to resonate with punk aficionados worldwide.
