Olatz Zugasti

Olatz Zugasti, born in Hernani, Gipuzkoa in 1965, is a renowned Spanish Basque singer, composer, and multi-instrumentalist. She is best known for her mastery of both the Celtic and pedal harp, as well as her work as a keyboard player and vocalist. Since 1981, Zugasti has been an integral part of the legendary singer Benito Lertxundi's group, contributing to his recordings and live performances. Her solo career has also flourished with albums like *Kantu Baten Bila Nabil* (1991), *Bulun Bulunka* (1999), *Elearen Lainoa* (2002), and *Gau Hotzenean Ere* (2010). In addition to her music, Zugasti presented the radio program "Kantaita" on Euskadi Irradia from 1994 to 2006, focusing on world music.

Zugasti's music is deeply inspired by her love for traditional music and her influences from artists like Alan Stivell. She has refined her harp-playing technique at the Conservatory of Baiona and developed a distinctive style that blends traditional and contemporary elements. Her contributions extend beyond her solo work, featuring performances on recordings by artists such as Maite Itoiz and John Kelly. Zugasti has also shared her expertise through master classes in Celtic harp and arrangement techniques at various conservatories. Her recent releases include *Orion Zuzenean* (2019) and *Hitzño bat erran eta, banua berhala* (2023).
