Hidden Place is a Portland, Oregon-based experimental metal project formed in 2018, known for blending crushing doom riffs, post-metal atmosphere, and avant-garde soundscapes. Their self-released works like *As Above So Below* and *Plague* showcase a fascination with existential themes, Japanese mythology (see *Izanagi*), and apocalyptic imagery delivered through lumbering rhythms and ghostly vocals. While maintaining a deliberately mysterious presence with no public member names or faces, their cult following has grown through Bandcamp releases and visceral live performances that pair their suffocating sonic textures with unsettling visual art projections. The project’s DIY ethos and thematic consistency—from *Genesis* to *Reconstruction: in the Waters of the Lethe*—reveal a carefully crafted vision of beauty and decay.
