Johnny Clegg & Juluka are a groundbreaking and highly influential music group from South Africa, formed in the late 1960s by English-born Johnny Clegg and Sipho Mchunu, a Zulu musician. Their music is a vibrant fusion of Western pop and African Zulu rhythms, which was both pioneering and provocative during the apartheid era in South Africa. Johnny Clegg, often dubbed the "White Zulu," was a prominent figure in challenging the racial divisions in South Africa through his music and was renowned for his scholarly approach to Zulu music and dance.

Juluka's music carries a message of hope, resilience, and unity. They made history as one of the first bands in the South African apartheid context to be composed of both black and white musicians, a truly defiant act in a society rigidly divided by race. Albums like "Universal Men" and "African Litany" in the late 70s and early 80s allowed them to build a reputation for confronting social issues while "Scatterlings" and "Ubuhle Bemvelo" cemented their status internationally with their infectious cross-cultural appeal.
