Bilge Pump

Bilge Pump is an English rock band formed in Leeds in the mid-1990s, consisting of Joe O'Sullivan on guitar, Emlyn Jones on bass and vocals, and Neil Turpin on drums. Their music style incorporates elements of post-punk, avant-garde, and free jazz, creating a unique blend of sounds. Over their career, Bilge Pump have released several albums including *Let Me Breathe* (2002), *Rupert The Sky* (2008), and *We Love You* (2019). They have also been featured in notable John Peel Sessions and have performed alongside bands like Lightning Bolt and The Mars Volta. Known for their energetic live shows, Bilge Pump's music often challenges traditional norms, showcasing a blend of discordant rhythms and memorable melodies.

In 2021, the band went on an indefinite break, following which Turpin and O'Sullivan collaborated with Claire Adams to form a new project called Objections. Bilge Pump has been praised for their distinctive sound, which blends influences from diverse genres to create a captivating musical experience. Despite receiving initial skepticism from critics, such as being labeled "unlistenable guff" by *NME*, Bilge Pump has maintained a strong presence in the independent music scene.
