Trio Fibonacci

Trio Fibonacci is a Canadian piano trio formed in Montreal in 1998, known for their inspired and virtuosic interpretations of contemporary classical repertoire. The group was founded by violinist Julie-Anne Derome, cellist Gabriel Prynn, and pianist André Ristic, with pianist Steven Massicotte joining in 2017. They have a rich history of championing new works, with many of Canada's finest composers dedicating pieces to them, including John Rea and Jean Lesage. While initially focused on contemporary music, Trio Fibonacci has expanded their repertoire to explore the full history of the piano trio genre, often featuring lesser-known works alongside modern compositions. Their performances are marked by creative programming and a dedication to bringing innovative and rare repertoire to audiences around the world.

The trio's name is inspired by the 13th-century mathematician Leonardo Fibonacci, reflecting their interest in compositional structures and complex musical forms. They have toured internationally, including high-profile appearances in England, Argentina, Brazil, and Canada, and have recorded albums such as "Max Richter Remixed," which features their arrangements of Max Richter's recompositions of Vivaldi’s *Four Seasons*. Their approach to music blends technical precision with a fresh and engaging interpretation that resonates with contemporary audiences, making them a distinctive presence in the chamber music scene.
