The Kölner Jugendchor St. Stephan is one of Germany's most prominent and versatile youth choirs. Founded in 1984 and based in Cologne, the choir is affiliated with the Catholic parish of St. Stephan in Köln-Lindenthal. Under the leadership of Michael Kokott since 1985, the ensemble consists of about 70 members aged 16 to 29. Their repertoire spans a wide range of genres, including pop, gospel, comedy, classical, and traditional Cologne songs.
The choir has gained national recognition through numerous high-profile collaborations and performances. They've shared the stage with artists like Unheilig, Manowar, and Bläck Fööss, and have performed at prestigious venues such as the Cologne Philharmonic Hall and the Lanxess Arena. One of their most famous moments came in 1999 when then-U.S. President Bill Clinton joined them in singing "Oh Happy Day" during the G8 summit in Cologne. The choir has released several albums and has been recognized with multiple gold and platinum certifications for their contributions to various recording projects.
