Caliban

Caliban is a German metalcore band formed in 1997 in Hattingen. Drawing inspiration from the dark textures of metal and the ferocious energy of hardcore punk, Caliban carefully forged a sound that's both aggressive and melodic. Over the years, they've cemented their position in the heavy music scene through a discography marked by intensity and innovation. The band's lineup consists of lead vocalist Andreas Dörner, guitarist Marc Görtz, bassist Marco Schaller, guitarist Denis Schmidt, and drummer Patrick Grün, a lineup that has remained remarkably stable over their career, helping to maintain a consistent signature sound.

Their recent works display a mature blend of brutality and harmony, with releases like "THE SHADOW" and "Dystopia" illustrating their mastery in the genre. Collaborations like "VirUS," featuring Marcus Bischoff of Heaven Shall Burn, and "Dystopia," featuring Christoph Wieczorek of Annisokay, showcase Caliban's ability to synergize with other artists while maintaining their core intensity. The band's thematic range touches on personal struggles, societal issues, and a spectrum of emotions, often wrapped in powerful guitar riffs, pounding drums, and Dörner’s guttural to clean vocal transitions. Albums like "Elements" and the EP "Zeitgeister" demonstrate their capacity for evolution and reinvention, ensuring that Caliban remains a commanding force in the metalcore realm.
