Spirit Fest is an international supergroup project that fuses together the eclectic talents of several notable indie musicians. The band consists of Tokyo-based duo Tenniscoats (Saya and Takashi Ueno), Markus Acher of the German band The Notwist, Mat Fowler of Jam Money and Bons, and Cico Beck, also of The Notwist and Aloa Input. The group emerged as an act of artistic serendipity when Markus Acher joined Tenniscoats on one of their European tours and discovered a harmonious blend with their experimental sound.
Spirit Fest's music is characterized by its dreamy, ethereal qualities, weaving together elements from indie pop, folk, and avant-garde music to create delicate, whimsical, and playful soundscapes. Their self-titled debut album, "Spirit Fest," was released in 2017, and since then, they have consistently gifted their growing fan base with a series of lush recordings. Their works, like "Mirage Mirage" and "Hitori Matsuri," showcase the creative synergy between the group’s members, revealing a unique, gentle chemistry where language barriers are dissolved into the universal language of music. With songs like “Anohito” and “Look At The Colours,” they have continued to craft their signature blend of abstract storytelling and multi-lingual vocal harmonies, enchanting listeners with their otherworldly charm and heartfelt songwriting.
